If the player leaves the search radius for a sufficient amount of time, typically several seconds, the cops will abandon their search and the wanted level will dissolve. Naturally, if the cops spot the player again, the radius will recenter on the player. If the cops lose sight of the player, the radius will stop and remain at the last location where the player was last seen. The player will remain at the centre of the search radius as long as the cops see him.
